This was the first shoot I did back home in Harare and it was super exciting. I wanted to do something edgy as per usual, so I decided to push the boundaries a lil bit. It is a well known secret that the Harare CBD is a dangerous place to walk as a woman in 'revealing clothing', mind you, 'revealing' is very subjective in this case.
As you might guess, this outfit made the 'revealing' cut and I was definitely going to be subjected to all sorts of name calling. But, I've always been a rebel and you already know I'm not about to let nobody tell me how to dress so I intentionally wore my cute outfit, kinda as a middle finger to all the scums who think they can tell a woman what to put on her body.
Now let's get into the outfit details, shall we?
This look was inspired by the whole Instagram baddie movement. I wanted something girly but simultaneously badass. The crop top and maxi are both from Boohoo. I love everything about this top since it gives the effect of a bralette without being too revealing. It is also great for the hot weather back here in Zim.
Moving on to the maxi, I had wanted one like this for the longest time and I was so happy when I finally got it. It is very feminine but that slit makes it ever so sexy and badass, pretty much my sense of style in a nutshell. This particular skirt is also lightweight and comfortable, great job Boohoo!
So I just had to mention that I LIVE for that snatched waist effect you get when you pair a crop top with something high-waisted and boy did this look deliver! It gave the right amount of sex appeal while staying tasteful.
To encompass the whole Instagram baddie feel, I went with my trusted Nike hat.Not only did it shield my eyes from the glaring sun chile, but it gave the look a sporty and playful touch which made the outfit feel younger.
I hope you enjoyed this look, and remember ladies - your body, your rules! Love the skin you're in, until next time!
